Creating a map in Roblox is possible by following a few steps. The online multiplayer game for PC, Xbox One, Android and iOS (iPhone) allows players to create their own maps through Roblox Studio, a tool provided by the game itself. Each map has its own look, objects, rules and more, so that each looks like its own game. All of them, however, share the same structure, which makes them look familiar. Check out, in the following tutorial, how to create your own Roblox map, how to publish it on the game server and how to edit it after it has already been submitted.
The map creation tool is the “Roblox Studio”, which the user can use in its browser version on the game’s website or download to use on the PC. Roblox Studio is a very powerful and intuitive software with the ability to generate large 3D terrains with one click and easily handle objects on the playing field. This example creates a base map for Roblox, but players can dig deeper into the tool and create even more elaborate and personalized experiences.
How to create a map in Roblox
Step 1. Access Roblox’s official website (https://www.roblox.com/) and login or create a registration if you don’t already have one;
Step 2. After login, click on “Create” in the bar at the top of the site;
Step 3. Click on “Start creating”;
Step 4. Click the “Open Roblox” option in your browser message to open Roblox Studio in its online version or click “Download Studio” to have it always on your computer. There is no need to click on both;
Step 5. In Roblox Studio, choose one of the templates to use as a base for your map. The first, “Baseplate”, is completely clean; the second, “Flat Terrain”, has only ground. The other templates already come with some content to help guide the creation;
Step 6. Within the map it is possible to move with the arrows or the W, A, S, D keys, in addition to rotating the camera by holding the right mouse button and moving it. The mouse wheel can also be used to zoom in and out of the camera;
Step 7. It is possible to generate terrain at random for your map in the “Terrain Editor” menu on the left, by moving your options and clicking on “Generate”;
Step 8. On the toolbar, click on “Toolbox” to access objects and just drag them from the left bar to your map to insert them;
Step 9. In the top menus, click on “Model” and then on the small symbol that looks like a sun to add a Spawn Point where your character will appear;

Step 10. Move your Spawn Point to the desired location and back to the “Home” menu click on “Play” to test your game;
Step 11. When you are satisfied with the test and want to quit your own game, click on the three lines in the upper left corner of the window, select “Leave Game” and then confirm with “Leave”;
Step 12. Save the progress of creating your map regularly by clicking “File” and then “Save to File”, or use the shortcut Ctrl + S;
Step 13. When you are satisfied with your map, click on “File” and then “Publish to Roblox” to send it to the game;
Step 14. Give your map a name and description. Define the creator, genre, platforms on which it can be played and click on “Create”;

Step 15. Ready! Your map is already on Roblox servers, but it is not yet available to other players;
Step 16. Go back to the website and click on “Create” in the bar at the top. However, this time, click on “Manage my games”, under the “Start creating” button that we clicked on previously;
Step 17. On your map that was created, click where it says “Private”;
Step 18. Change it to “Public” and click “Save”;

Step 19. Ready. Your map is now available to be played on Roblox. Just click on the green button to play it;

Step 20. If you want to edit your map later, just return to the “Manage my games” menu and click “Edit”.
